## Before you land

Planning more of Europe? Our Europe pack does not include France, so the [Europe trip guide](https://inboxesim.com/guides/europe-trip-esim) shows how to cover both.
- France's four networks are Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free Mobile. (source: Arcep, https://www.arcep.fr/mes-demarches-et-services/entreprises/fiches-pratiques/extinction-reseaux-mobiles-2g-3g.html)
- 2G is being switched off across mainland France through late 2026, and 3G from 2028. (source: Arcep, https://www.arcep.fr/mes-demarches-et-services/entreprises/fiches-pratiques/extinction-reseaux-mobiles-2g-3g.html)
- EU 'roam like at home' only helps people whose phone plan is from an EU country; visitors from elsewhere pay their carrier's roaming rates. (source: EU roaming rules, https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/internet-telecoms/mobile-roaming-costs/index_en.htm)

## Questions

### How much is the France eSIM?

From $2.90 in USD, and the price on this page is the price you pay. Sizes run from the 1 GB pack up; pick one in the list above.

### When does the France plan start?

First attach to a covered network. Install on Wi-Fi before you fly. After you land, turn data roaming on for this line.

### Can I hotspot in France?

Usually allowed. The host network can still cap it.

### Which networks in France?

Orange. Your phone joins whichever of these is strongest where you are.

### Is this 5G in France?

This pack runs on 3G/4G/5G. You get 5G where the local network offers it to visitors, otherwise 4G.

### Do I get a phone number in France?

Data only · no voice · no SMS. Keep the home SIM for calls and SMS.

### What APN do I use in France?

Automatic unless the QR mail names one

### Can I use this France eSIM in another country?

No. This pack is France. A new country is a new QR. Keep this one if you return.

### Can I top up the France plan?

Same profile, same coverage. Extra GB is a top-up, not a new QR.

### How long do I have to install the France eSIM?

Start using within 180 days of purchase. After that an unused pack can expire. Scan on Wi-Fi before you fly.

### What if I buy the wrong plan?

QR not scanned and not on the phone? Email within 30 days of issue. We cancel and refund. Installed? Buy the right country and keep this QR for later.
