FAQ
Short answers. Sales are not open yet. The install guide and refunds pages have the full steps.
Can I buy today?
Not yet. The catalog and USD prices are live. Checkout is not open. No waitlist form — email hello@inboxesim.com if you want a note when sales open.
Do I need an app?
No. After payment the ticket and mail open Add eSIM. iOS 17.4+ is one tap. No InboxSIM app.
Does a China-bought iPhone work?
Often no. Many iPhones sold in mainland China, and some Hong Kong and Macao models, have no eSIM. Add eSIM is missing even if the phone is unlocked. Airalo’s device-compatibility page says the same. Tick Add eSIM on the phone in your hand before you buy.
Do I need a VPN in mainland China?
Hotel Wi-Fi and a local Chinese SIM are filtered: Google, WhatsApp, and Instagram often fail. Airalo’s China help (2026) says their China, Asia, and Global packs are roaming-routed, so a VPN is not required. We do not promise that bypass on this QR. If Maps or WhatsApp fail on this line, use a VPN you already installed at home. Do not wait to download one in China.
Can I keep my home SIM in?
Yes. Dual SIM: InboxSIM for Cellular Data, home SIM for calls, SMS, WhatsApp, iMessage, and FaceTime. Turn home-line Cellular Data off. On iPhone, turn Data Roaming off on the home plan, and turn Allow Cellular Data Switching off. Default Voice Line = home (Settings → Cellular). Turn Wi-Fi Assist off so weak hotel Wi-Fi does not burn InboxSIM GB — or home roaming if Switching is still on. Airalo’s roaming-charge and data-save help (2026) say the same. Android cannot disable roaming per SIM — turn the home SIM off while you use InboxSIM data. Two country packs are two profiles — the phone needs a free eSIM slot for each.
Does this work on Apple Watch or iPad?
Not on Apple Watch. Airalo, Holafly, and Saily say the same: a travel QR is for the phone, not watchOS. The Watch can still use the iPhone’s data over Bluetooth. A cellular iPad with Add eSIM in Settings can take the same QR. A Wi-Fi-only iPad cannot.
How much data do I need?
1 GB / 7 days covers maps and messages on a short stop. 5 GB / 30 days is the usual week of maps, chat, and some video. 10 GB is heavier video or hotspot. Packs have a GB amount — we do not sell unlimited. As of September 2026, Airalo’s Germany page leads with unlimited from $11 / 3 days; our Germany fare is a fixed GB pack on the country page.
One eSIM for several countries?
A regional pack or Global. Europe regional is 35 countries, one QR. Asia regional is 19. Global is 117 — not every country on Earth. Two country packs are two installs. Trip suggests a covering pack when you add two stops.
Does this work on a cruise or a plane?
No. These packs are land networks in the listed countries. Ship and cabin Wi-Fi are not the same radio. GigSky sells cruise and inflight eSIMs; we do not copy that SKU. Port days use the country or regional pack for that shore.
When does the validity clock start?
Most packs start on first attach to a covered network. If a pack starts when you install, the country page says so. Install on Wi-Fi before you fly either way.
Can I install at home, before I fly?
Yes. Turn VPN off until Add eSIM finishes. iCloud Private Relay is the same class — off until the profile is on the phone and the line attaches. A pack only has data in its listed countries — a Japan QR has no data in France. Airalo’s install help says the same: wait to attach until you are in coverage.
What happens when data or days run out?
No more InboxSIM data. If the plan allows a top-up, keep the profile and buy extra GB for the same coverage. If it does not, delete the line (Settings → Cellular → the InboxSIM plan → Remove) to free the slot. Do not delete mid-trip: that ticket is spent. Airalo says the same.
Can I hotspot?
Usually yes. The host network can still cap tethering. If a pack forbids it, the country page says Not allowed. Cellular Data must be InboxSIM. If hotspot will not share: Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Service) → InboxSIM → Cellular Data Network → Personal Hotspot APN. Only type a name if the QR mail names one; leave user and password blank. Airalo’s tethering help (2026) is that same APN field.
Do I get a phone number?
No. Data only, unless a specific plan says otherwise. Keep your home SIM for calls and SMS.
Can I keep WhatsApp and my home number?
Yes. This pack is data. Leave the home SIM on for calls, SMS, and WhatsApp. After you land, use InboxSIM for cellular data and turn data off on the home line so you do not pay roaming. Airalo’s July 2026 number blog says the same for data-only packs: WhatsApp stays on the home number. Do not re-register WhatsApp on a travel line.
Do iMessage and FaceTime stay on my number?
Yes. Pick the home line in Settings → Messages and FaceTime → Send & Receive. Airalo’s install wizard asks the same: Primary for calls, SMS, iMessage, and FaceTime; travel eSIM for Cellular Data. Turn Send as SMS off abroad so a failed iMessage does not send as a billed SMS. FaceTime needs data on InboxSIM; the Apple ID number stays the home line.
Can I rename the eSIM on the phone?
Yes. The phone names it Secondary or a carrier string. Rename it InboxSIM so you do not pick the home line for data. iPhone: Settings → Cellular → the new plan → Cellular Plan Label. Android: SIMs → the profile → pencil. Airalo’s label help (2026) is the same steps. Renaming does not move the profile or start the validity clock.
Can I move the eSIM to another phone?
No. After the profile is on one device, we cannot transfer it, reinstall it, or send the same QR again. A second phone needs a new pack. Family share is hotspot, not a second install — Airalo’s multiple-devices help (2026) is the same. If you still have GB, disable the line instead of Remove — validity does not pause while it is off. If you delete the eSIM, that ticket is spent. Airalo, Nomad, and Holafly say the same.
Can I top up?
When the plan allows it, extra GB stays on the same profile and the same coverage. Germany extra GB is not a Japan pack. New country = new QR.
What if I buy the wrong country?
If the QR is not scanned and the profile is not on the phone, email us within 30 days of issue. We cancel and refund. If it is installed, buy the right country and keep the old QR for later.
How long do I have to ask for a refund?
Unused and not installed: ask within 30 days of issue. After the profile is on the phone, remaining data is not cash.
How do I find my order?
Open Order lookup with the number and email from the receipt. If checkout is still closed, there is no ticket yet.
How fast is delivery?
When sales open: after payment the ticket shows Add eSIM, usually a few seconds. iOS 17.4+ is one tap. QR is the backup.
Can I see remaining data?
On the phone: Settings → Cellular (or Network) shows used GB on the InboxSIM line. We do not have an app meter. After you buy, Order lookup can show a lagged remaining amount — host usage can lag two to three hours. Leftover data is not cash.
Does Europe regional include France?
No. The supplier list is 35 countries and does not include France. France is a country pack — the USD is on that page. Airalo Eurolink does include France; we do not add a country the wholesale pack does not list. Trip may suggest Global if France is one of several regions.
Do you sell Taiwan?
There is no Taiwan-only pack yet. Asia regional and Global both cover Taiwan with one QR.
Why are some countries missing?
Five destinations have no country pack yet: Taiwan, Cuba, Lebanon, Myanmar, Namibia. Asia regional and Global cover Taiwan. Destinations → Gaps lists each one.
What APN do I use?
Leave it on Automatic. The profile sets it. Only type a name if the QR mail says one.
Do you have Turkish or other languages?
The catalog is English and USD. Support mail can be in Turkish. We do not have a translated storefront yet.
Who is InboxSIM?
A storefront of White Cats Software, LLC. We resell travel data. We do not operate cell towers.
Do you sell my data?
No. Checkout is not open, so we do not take cards yet. Trip stops stay in your browser. Support mail is hello@inboxesim.com. The privacy page names hosts and processors.
How do I pay?
When checkout opens: card via Stripe. No InboxSIM account. We do not take PayPal, Apple Pay, or store credit today. Airalo’s checkout is in the app; ours will be the country page.
Does the phone need to be unlocked?
Yes. A carrier-locked phone often cannot Add eSIM. iPhone: Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock must read No SIM restrictions. If it does not, the phone shows “Cellular Plans From This Carrier Cannot be Added.” Airalo’s lock article (2026) is the same check. Contact the home carrier to unlock — we cannot. Tick Add eSIM on the phone in your hand before you buy. Mainland China iPhones, and some Hong Kong and Macao models, have no eSIM. Details: Install.
Is this a plastic SIM?
No. It is an eSIM profile. The phone needs a free eSIM slot. A dual-SIM iPhone can keep the home line and add this one. We do not mail a card. See also how many profiles the phone can store.
Do you guarantee 5G?
No. The country page shows the wholesale speed chip (LTE, 5G, or both). Coverage and radio are the host network’s. Terms refuse a speed promise. Destinations can filter packs that list 5G.
Where is my ICCID?
On the issued ticket and in the QR mail, after sales open. Support may ask for it. Airalo’s help (2026) also points at the phone: iPhone Settings → General → About, then the active SIMs. Samsung: About phone → Status → SIM. Pixel: About phone → SIM status. Sample mail has no ICCID — that is not a live profile. Order lookup uses the receipt number and email, not the ICCID.
How many eSIMs can the phone hold?
Depends on the phone, not on us. Apple says recent iPhones can store several profiles (often around 5–10) and keep two lines on. If Add eSIM fails with “Unable to Complete Cellular Plan Change,” delete an old travel eSIM first. Airalo’s install-error help lists the same cause. This QR installs once — do not scan it a second time on another phone.
The line is stuck on Activating
If you installed at home, that can be normal. Airalo’s iOS help (2026) says “Activating” or “Activation Failure” before you reach coverage still means the profile is on the phone. Do not delete it. After you land: InboxSIM line on, Data roaming on, home-line data off. If it is still stuck after you are in coverage, write hello@ with the order number — not a second pack first.
The phone says Unable to Complete Cellular Plan Change
Usually: the phone is full of eSIM profiles, the QR was already used, the line is carrier-locked, or Wi-Fi is too weak (ship and captive hotel portals fail). Free a slot, stay on real Wi-Fi, and install once. Steps: Install. We do not reissue a spent QR.
What if I lose the phone?
The profile stays on that device. We cannot move it. If the QR was never scanned, email within the unused window and we cancel. If it is installed, leftover data is not cash. Airalo, Nomad, and Holafly bind the profile the same way.
Do prices include tax? Can I get an invoice?
Sticker prices are USD. When checkout opens, Stripe Checkout may add tax if the law requires it. We do not publish an EU VAT number. When sales open, the Stripe receipt is the invoice. We do not issue a separate VAT invoice today.
