Buy a travel eSIM without an app or account

A few days of data should not need another app. Here is how a QR-by-email eSIM works, which brands ask for an app or an account, and what it costs today.

Updated 24 October 2026

How it works without an app

  • Open your country's page, for example Japan or Chile, pick a size and pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. No account is created.
  • About a minute later the QR code and a one-tap Add eSIM link arrive by email. The same mail opens your order page with the install steps and the eSIM's status.
  • Install at home on Wi-Fi: tap the link on the phone, or scan the QR from another screen. The install guide has every step for iPhone and Android.
  • When you land, turn on the eSIM's line and data roaming for it. Your own number stays on your main SIM for calls and SMS.

What you give up without an app

  • An in-app data meter. Your phone counts usage per line in Settings instead.
  • A saved account for the next trip. Each trip is a new checkout; top-ups for the same eSIM are bought from its order page.

Refunds

Not installed and not used: ask within 30 days of issue and the money goes back to your card. Once the eSIM is on the phone, keep it for a later trip while it is valid. The refund policy has the details.
